ME4: Accounting and Economics (L+E) (03SM22MO0004)

This course covers both financial and managerial accounting theory, with an emphasis on the role of accounting as an information source and its usefulness for facilitating and influencing decision making. Focusing on the different needs of different user groups (such as investors, firms or managers), the course discusses fundamental concepts from financial and managerial accounting and applies them to a series of economic problems. Topics include firm valuation, incentive contracting, budgeting, transfer pricing and earnings management. Related to these topics, some current practices and problems will be discussed.
